Please read rules and terms before submitting


  1. Instructions on how to enter the MY RØDE CAST 2021 competition (“the Competition”) and all details regarding the Competition form part of these Terms and Conditions. Entry into and participation in this Competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. This Competition is not valid in conjunction with any other offer, competition or promotion by RØDE.
  2. The Competition is free to enter and open to any person, except employees of RØDE and residents of North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The Competition will be void in any other jurisdiction where it is prohibited by law.
  3. Minors are entitled to enter the Competition, provided they have the consent of a parent or guardian to enter and participate in the Competition. Any Minors entering and participating in the Competition shall provide their parent or guardian’s consent in writing to RØDE upon their entry to the Competition for verification by RØDE. Entrants shall be considered as Minors for the purpose of the Competition if they are over the age of 13 years old and under the age of 20 years old if they are from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand or South Korea, and otherwise over the age of 13 years old and under the age of 18 years old.
  4. The Competition commences at 10:00 am AEST on 5 May 2021 (“the Commencement Date”) and closes at 10:00 am AEST on 23 June 2021 (the “Closing Date”). The period between the Commencement Date and the Closing Date shall be the Competition entry period (the “Competition Entry Period”).
  5. To participate in the Competition, Entrants must create, record, edit a digital format Podcast (the “Podcast”).
  6. The Podcast must be a minimum of one minute and no more that two minutes in length.
  7. The Podcast can be about any topic and in any creative format, however must be in either English or Mandarin Chinese.
  8. The Entrant must own the whole of the copyright of the Podcast. In circumstances where the Podcast or parts thereof are derived from or contain sounds or material from an existing work, the Entrants must have obtained written copyright clearance from the owner of that existing work for the use of that existing work, which must be produced to RØDE on demand. In circumstances where the Podcast or parts thereof contain voices of persons or trademarks and any other audio which would require permission for their use, the Entrants must have received appropriate written releases for their use, which must be produced to RØDE on demand. The Entrant shall indemnify RØDE in respect of any and all liability arising from any infringement of any rights whatsoever that may arise in respect of the Podcast, and RØDE reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant who does not comply with the conditions set out in this clause.
  9. The Podcast must not defame any person or entity, or be disparaging to any religion, race, or nation, or contain language that is lewd, obscene or inappropriate, or use any copyrights, marks, trademarks for which the Entrant has not obtained permission for their use. RØDE reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant who does not comply with the conditions set out in this clause.
  10. The Entrant shall be the one individual person most responsible for the creation, recording and editing of the Podcast.
  11. Once the Podcast has been completed, the Entrant shall enter the Competition as follows:
    1. Prior to the closing date, the Entrant must register for My RØDE Cast at myrodecast.com and complete the Competition Entry Form by entering the details required therein in full, including but not limited to the full name of the Entrant, the gender of the Entrantand other contact details required to receive the starter pack.
    2. The Entrant will then record their podcast. It must be 1-2 minutes long and can be on any topic and in any style. The Podcast needs to be a single stereo audio file, in either MP3 or WAV format.
    3. The Entrant will then need to upload the podcast to WavPub. The entrant will need to create a free WavPub account to upload the podcast.
    4. Once the Podcast has been uploaded, the Entrant shall copy the episode URL from WavPub log into the Entrant’s My RØDE Cast account, paste it into submission page and fill out the required details and submit.
    5. The Entrant will then receive an email confirming receipt of their entry by RØDE, and stating that the acceptance of their entry by RØDE is subject to moderation of their entry by RØDE in its sole discretion;
    6. RØDE shall aim to moderate each entry within forty-eight (48) hours of receipt, but moderation may take longer due to the volume of entries from time to time;
    7. If the entry is accepted by RØDE following moderation, the Entrant shall receive a confirmation email of the acceptance of their entry. RØDE shall provide the Entrant with a link to share their entry on the myrodecast.com website for voting purposes; and
    8. If the entry is not accepted by RØDE following moderation, the Entrant shall receive an email from RØDE to the effect that it has not been accepted, the reasons for this, and details for the re-submission of their entry once any defects in their entry have been rectified to the satisfaction of RØDE.
  12. Entrants must complete all of the steps itemized in clause 11, to the satisfaction of RØDE in its sole discretion, within the Competition Entry Period. RØDE will only accept entries made outside the Competition Entry Period in its sole discretion.
  13. By entering the Competition, Entrants acknowledge, agree and declare that they are aware that their participation is entirely at their own risk and that they hereby waive, surrender and relinquish in favour of RØDE all claims of any nature and howsoever arising (including as a result of negligence) which but for this waiver, surrender and relinquishment they may or otherwise have against RØDE either directly or indirectly arising out of their participation in the Competition.
  14. By entering the Competition, Entrants hereby warrant that all information submitted is true, current and complete. Any Entrants who have supplied incomplete, inaccurate or fraudulent information may be automatically disqualified. RØDE reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant if RØDE has reasonable grounds to believe that an Entrant has breached any of these terms and conditions or has tampered with the Competition process. Failure by RØDE to enforce any of its rights at any stage of the Competition does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  15. Incomplete, indecipherable, illegible or inaudible entries will be deemed invalid. Entrants bear all responsibility to ensure that their entry is complete and legible, and that their Podcast is submitted in the correct format and clearly audible.
  16. Entrants are entitled to submit an unlimited number of entries, provided that each entry must individually comply with the entry provisions.
  17. Any costs incurred by the Entrant for entering the Competition shall be borne solely by the Entrant and Entrant will not be reimbursed regardless of whether Entrant is a winner of any prize as detailed below at clauses 19,20,21,22, 23 and 24.
  18. The Entrant grants to RØDE a nonexclusive, irrevocable license to RØDE to publish their Podcast on the RØDE website in all territories of the world, and in full or in part in any other promotional material of RØDE, for the purposes of the Competition or otherwise.
  19. Following the Closing Date, the entries to the Competition shall be judged in the following distinct categories:
    1. First/Judges’ Prize
    2. Runner’s Up Prize
    3. People’s Choice
    4. Highly Commended (x20)
  20. One Entrant will be chosen as the winner for each category (with the exception of Highly Commended) itemized in clauses 21, 22, 23.
  21. The winner of the Judges’ Film Category shall be determined as follows:
    1. A judging panel of industry experts shall be appointed by RØDE in its sole discretion;
    2. After the Closing Date, RØDE shall determine a shortlist of the best Podcasts;
    3. The judging panel shall listen to the Podcasts on the shortlist determined by RØDE;
    4. By early July, the judging panel shall determine the winner of this category in the judging panel’s sole discretion;
    5. The judging shall be based only on the subjective personal opinions of the judging panel and shall be final;
    6. RØDE accepts no liability for the decisions made by the judging panel, and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard;
    7. RØDE shall announce the winner of this category within twenty-four (24) hours of the determination of the winner on the www.myrodecast.com website, RØDE’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and by email to the winner; and
    8. The winner shall be entitled to receive the Judges’ Film Category Prize Pack.
  22. The winner of the People’s Choice Category shall be determined as follows:
    1. Any time after the Commencement Date and until 10.00 a.m. AEST on 7th July 2021 (the “Voting End Time”), any person may vote for their favourite Podcast that has been entered into the Competition by accessing the internet and logging their vote at www.myrodecast.com via their Facebook, Google or WavPub account, or their email address. Each person may only vote for one Podcast entry. Only one vote per entry, per IP address will be accepted by RØDE, and RØDE reserves the right to cancel any vote in circumstances where there is in RØDE’s opinion any irregularity in the voting process;
    2. The ongoing votes registered for each entry shall not be made available by RØDE, but the ongoing cumulative ranking of each entry shall be displayed on the website www.myrodecast.com [until 72 hours before the competition ends.]
    3. All voting will be completed by the end of the Voting End Time, and no votes submitted after the Voting End Time will be accepted by RØDE;
    4. The winner of this category shall be the entry with the most votes as at Voting End Time;
    5. In circumstances where there are two or more entries that have tied as the most votes at the Voting End Time, RØDE shall announce and extend the votes for 24 hours until 10.00 a.m. AEST on 8th July 2021the “Extended Voting End Time”) for the tied entries only, and the winner shall be the entry with the most number of votes at the Extended Voting End Time;
    6. In circumstances where there are two or more entries that have tied as the most votes at the Extended Voting End Time, RØDE shall announce and extend the votes for successive 24 hour periods thereafter for the tied entries until the winner with the most number of individual votes can be determined (the “Further Extended Voting End Time”);
    7. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the Voting Process;
    8. RØDE shall announce the winner of this category on the myrodecast.com website, RØDE’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and by email to the winner; and
    9. The winner shall be entitled to receive the People’s Choice Category Prize Pack.
  23. The winner of the Runner’s Up Prize:
    1. After the Closing Date, representatives appointed by RØDE with appropriate qualifications shall listen to all of the Podcasts
    2. By early July the appointed representatives of RØDE shall determine the winner of this category in their sole discretion, and inform RØDE of their decision;
    3. The judging shall be based only on the subjective personal opinions of the RØDE representatives and shall be final;
    4. RØDE will not enter into any correspondence in regards to the judging process;
    5. RØDE shall announce the winner of this category within twenty-four (24) hours of the determination of the winner on the www.myrodecast.com website, RØDE’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and by email to the winner; and
    6. The winner shall be entitled to receive the the Runner’s Up Prize Pack.
  24. The winners of the Highly Commended Categories shall be determined as follows:
    1. After the Closing Date, representatives appointed by RØDE with appropriate qualifications shall listen to all of the Podcasts
    2. By early July the appointed representatives of RØDE shall determine the winners of this category in their sole discretion, and inform RØDE of their decision;
    3. The judging shall be based only on the subjective personal opinions of the RØDE representatives and shall be final;
    4. RØDE will not enter into any correspondence in regards to the judging process;
    5. RØDE shall announce the winner of this category within twenty-four (24) hours of the determination of the winner on the www.myrodecast.com website, RØDE’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and by email to the winner; and
    6. The winner shall be entitled to receive the Highly Commended Prize Pack.
  25. The Prize for winning is listed under www.myrodecast.com/prizes. The total value of the My RØDE Cast 2021 prize pool is approximately $50,000 AUD.
  26. RØDE reserves the right to award further Prizes or Prize Packs to winners, or to alter the content of any Prize Pack in whole or in part at any time, whether by adding or removing Prizes. Any changes in the Prizes or the content of the Prize Packs shall be notified by RØDE from time to time as the case may be.
  27. The Prize Packs on offer in the Competition, in full or in part, are non-transferable, non-negotiable, non-refundable, are not redeemable for cash, and are subject to availability.
  28. All Prizes in each Prize Pack will be new and in their original packing with their applicable warranty. All electronic prizes will be in Australian specification by default, however RØDE will make reasonable efforts to provide prizes in the specification of the winner’s country.
  29. RØDE shall make reasonable efforts to deliver the Prize Pack to the respective winner at the winner’s address specified in the Competition Entry Form within six (6) weeks of Competition Close. RØDE shall not be liable for any delays in delivery of the Prize Packs. All shipping costs for the Prize Pack to the winners’ address shall be paid by RØDE. Any duty of other import costs for the Prize Pack shall be paid by the winner.
  30. RØDE shall not be liable for any tax payable on the value of a Prize Pack in a winner’s country, and any tax payable shall be borne by each winner. Where required by law, RØDE shall inform the local taxation authorities of the Prizes received by the winners.
  31. Each winner agrees to participate in reasonable post-competition publicity for RØDE at RØDE’s expense, including but not limited to their attendance for interviews, photographs, videos and any other promotional activity specified by RØDE, and grant a nonexclusive, irrevocable license to RØDE to use their name, biographical details, photographs, videos, likenesses and any other information regarding the winner deemed appropriate for use by RØDE for any promotional and marketing purposes by RØDE for a period of one (1) year from the Closing Date.
  32. Each Entrant warrants that he or she has no other agreements or arrangements with any third parties relating to the performance, service, image, name or likeness and/or other rights that may interfere with his or her entry into the Competition and the execution of his or her obligations as the winner in this Competition.
  33. The terms and conditions of a related third-party supplier or suppliers of prizes may apply and shall be accepted by the winner or winners.
  34. If this Competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of RØDE, RØDE reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any Entrant; or (b) to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Competition, as appropriate.
  35. Any cost associated with accessing the Competition website is the Entrant's responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used. RØDE makes no guarantee of the availability of its web services and will not be held responsible for interruption of service that may interfere with the ability to participate in the Competition.
  36. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, RØDE (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of this Competition, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under RØDE's control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by RØDE) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of RØDE; (d) any variation in the type and specifications of the prizes to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any prize that has not been received by the claimant after dispatch by RØDE; (f) any prize that has been damaged in transit; (g) any tax liability incurred by an Entrant; or (h) use of the prizes.
  37. RØDE collects personal information of the Entrants in order to conduct the Competition and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and as required by law, to Australian or other regulatory authorities. Entry to the Competition is conditional on providing this personal information, and the Entrant must consent to the use of their personal information for the purposes of the Competition. RØDE may, for an indefinite period, and provided that the Entrant has not withdrawn their consent, use the information for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and/or profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages or telephoning the Entrant. The Entrant may opt out of any promotional, marketing, publicity, research and/or profiling conducted by RØDE using their personal information at any time by giving RØDE notice of their intention to opt out. RØDE shall maintain all personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy set out at https://www.rode.com/privacypolicy. Entrants should direct any request to access, update or correct information to RØDE.
  38. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New South Wales, Australia. Entrants agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the State of New South Wales, Australia. RØDE shall comply with any laws applicable in the location where the Competition is held.
  39. RØDE hereby reserves the right to change, suspend or cancel the Competition, or to change these terms and conditions, by notice on the RØDE website. RØDE shall not be required to specify any reasons for the changes and shall not incur any liability as a result.
